Organization

This semester just started and I am BUSY! My courses this semester are very heavy with reading, writing, observations, projects, you name it I have to do it.

Usually, I can organize my school materials in a folder with brads, a spiral for notes, and page protectors for important information. That worked amazing when I had less materials to deal with. This semester I need to carry a binder for each class. Generally I do not like the bulk of binders for school, but since I only have one class a day four days a week it works.

To keep everything together I will be storing everything in a pink bin. The one I am using is collapsible and it will be kept in the back seat of my car. In the past I have used a different tote bag for each campus I visit, and that method works well too. Although, as each semester changes sometimes organization changes too. I decided on this method mostly because last week my binders were flying around my backseat way too much, and I really did not need to carry a tote bag most days because I have my purse everyday.

The bin in the picture above holds: binders for each class, one text book (bought mostly e-books this year, love it!), observation file folder, and my backpack just in case i need to carry extra materials into class one day. My supplies are kept in my purse due to the fact that I use those at work as well.

Staying organized is fun and hard. I like it but I tend to get off track at times. Hey no big deal as long as you work hard, make changes, and accomplish your goals everything will work out fine.

Any organizing tips? Let me know!

Valentine's Day + Beauty

I have always loved Valentine's Day. Some people are anti-v-day foe various reasons, but I for one love it regardless. Red, pink, hearts, cute crafts...how can I say no!?

The photos above are a few things I have already put together for the holiday. Everything was purchased at target besides the mustache card and the heart tray. The tray my boyfriend bought me at a local grocery store. The mustache card was made at archiver's. My sister and I went in there and I saw they were having a free demo, how awesome. So we both made one and I gave mine to my boyfriend to ask him to be my valentine. He said yes. haha!

Lastly, some beauty products. First up are some nail polishes. I have been wanting the Maybelline ones for a while so just took the plunge and purchased them. (Wal-mart under $3) The polishes with the white lid are from Drew Barrymore's new line Flower. Love her so I picked out the polishes to try. I painted my nails tonight and love the quality! You can find them at Wal-Mart for under $5. The mascara, lipstick, and blush were just random items I had been wanting so I just purchased them. The lipstick is Flame by Covergirl, which I think is one of the Taylor Swift reds. (ooh la la)

Tomorrow is Monday, back to school and routine.

How was your weekend? Did you get a chance to go shopping?

Travel Journal

My boyfriend and I are planning a little road trip. After he is done coaching soccer we plan to get away for the weekend. Recently, I have been loving making my own journals. This little road trip sparked the idea to bring along one of the journals I recently put together.

I used a scrap booking kit I got at Big Lots that was on clearance for $1.50 and some card stock. The kit included multiple sheets of 12x12 papers, tags, stickers, and ephemera. The overal feel of the kit was vintage travel. I added embellishments that matched from my stash of crafty goodies. The card stock I used to make the base of the book was 8.5xll and I just folded the sheets in half. For the binding I used the saddle stich technique. (click here for video)

The plan is to take this journal along with me and work on it some while I am traveling. Therefore, I put together a small kit of goodies I would possibly like to include. During the trip I will snap lots of photos, grab brochures and handouts, and journal part of our adventures. Those souvenirs will end up in my journal while traveling, and when I can get the photos printed I will add all the finishing touches.

After I have completed my travel journal I will be sharing it on my blog!

Do you scrapbook or journal? Tell me how you keep your memories.

New Year

In light of a new year and new semester of school I want to blog more often. I have a heavy load with school and work (who dosen't?) With that being said I really want to share more of my projects, adventures, random photos, thoughts, and things that go along with working towards a degree in teaching.

Here's to 2013!
